Can I have painless childbirth (epidural) if I have sacroiliitis and am delivering vaginally?
Disease description:
I've been pregnant for six months now. During my last prenatal checkup, I was diagnosed with sacroiliitis. Can I have an epidural for pain relief during vaginal delivery?
Vaginal delivery is generally possible with epidural analgesia for patients with sacroiliitis. Pregnant women usually can receive pain relief during childbirth, and epidural analgesia does not affect the condition of sacroiliitis. There is no direct association between sacroiliitis and either the mode of delivery or the use of epidural anesthesia. Patients with sacroiliitis should pay attention to keeping warm in daily life, avoid cold exposure, maintain regular作息 (sleep-wake cycles), avoid excessive fatigue, and appropriately apply heat therapy or massage to promote local blood circulation, which may help improve symptoms.
