Disease description:

I've been having frequent lower back pain lately. After consulting a doctor, I was advised to have a color ultrasound of both kidneys and adrenal glands. I'm not sure what this examination entails, so I'd like to ask: what is the purpose of having a color ultrasound of both kidneys and adrenal glands?

Doctor's answer (1)
Dr. Li Mingchuan
The purpose of color Doppler ultrasound of the bilateral kidneys and adrenal glands is to help screen patients for space-occupying lesions within these organs, such as kidney stones, renal cysts, and malignant kidney tumors, as well as to detect space-occupying lesions in the adrenal glands, such as pheochromocytoma. This examination can also help rule out hypertension caused by renal factors or adrenal tumors.
