What causes high diastolic blood pressure and how to manage low blood pressure
Disease description:
When measuring blood pressure in the morning, I noticed that my diastolic pressure (the lower number) was high. What causes high diastolic pressure, and how can I manage low blood pressure?
High diastolic blood pressure may result from excessive use of antihypertensive medications, or from measuring blood pressure immediately after eating or physical activity without adequate rest. It could also be caused by increased blood viscosity or peripheral small vessel diseases. If low blood pressure is due to overuse of antihypertensive drugs, the dosage should be adjusted promptly according to medical advice. If low blood pressure is caused by hypothyroidism, medications such as midodrine hydrochloride tablets may be used under a doctor's guidance.
