The main functions of Lycii Cortex (Di Gu Pi) are to clear lung heat, reduce fire toxicity, cool the blood, and eliminate fever due to deficiency. It is clinically suitable for treating conditions such as fever caused by yin deficiency, cough due to lung heat, bleeding due to blood heat, night sweats, and tidal fever. However, long-term use of this herb may easily impair the spleen and stomach. Moreover, high doses may exert certain inhibitory effects on the heart.
