Nodular goiter is a relatively common thyroid disease. During treatment, if the nodule is small and thyroid function is normal, patients with nodular goiter may be managed by regular observation to monitor the growth rate of the nodule; if there is no significant enlargement, surgery can be temporarily avoided. However, if the nodule is found to be large, causing compressive symptoms, or if nodular goiter is accompanied by hyperthyroidism, timely surgical treatment in cooperation with a physician is necessary.
