Which lithotripsy method should be chosen for urinary system stones?
Disease description:
I've had abnormal urination recently. After a hospital checkup, the doctor diagnosed me with urinary system stones and recommended lithotripsy. What type of lithotripsy should be chosen for urinary stones?
For urinary system stones, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is an available option. During the procedure, accurate localization of the stone is required to determine whether the stone is located in the ureter, bladder, or kidney. Additionally, the stone size must be clearly assessed to determine suitability for ESWL. Stones smaller than 2 cm can typically be treated with extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, whereas stones larger than 2 cm usually require surgical removal.
