What causes lower back pain on the right side after left kidney cancer surgery?
Disease description:
My grandmother was diagnosed with kidney cancer a month ago and underwent surgery to remove the left kidney. Recently, she has been experiencing soreness on the right side of her waist. What could be causing the waist soreness on the right side after left kidney cancer surgery?
After left kidney cancer surgery, lower back pain on the right side may result from muscle, nerve, or soft tissue damage at the surgical incision site, causing edema and leading to poor wound healing or inflammation. Following nephrectomy, strain of the lower back muscles can also cause back discomfort; therefore, adequate bed rest is important and overexertion should be avoided. If severe pain occurs, prompt medical attention is necessary.
