What should be done for a stone in the upper segment of the left ureter?
Disease description:
Left upper ureteral stone has caused difficulty in urination and symptoms of hematuria. What should be done about the left upper ureteral stone?
Left upper ureteral stones: If the stone is smaller than 0.5 cm and newly developed, conservative drug treatment is primarily recommended. Patients may take lithotripsy granules or Shenshitong capsules. During medication, it's important to drink plenty of water and stay physically active to facilitate stone expulsion. If the stone is larger than 0.5 cm, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is usually performed; laser lithotripsy may also be an option. Surgery might be necessary in certain cases. Prior to treatment, thorough examinations must be conducted to determine the appropriate treatment plan based on the size of the stone.
