Blisters on the penis require identifying the underlying cause before targeted treatment. If caused by bacterial infection, local treatment may include applying erythromycin ointment or wiping with iodophor for disinfection. If the blisters are due to herpes simplex virus infection causing genital herpes, oral antiviral medications such as valacyclovir or acyclovir should be taken under a doctor's guidance to relieve symptoms. Additionally, topical application of acyclovir ointment can also be used for treatment.
