What causes penile pain?
Recently, my penis has been experiencing a dull ache constantly, without any history of trauma. The pain intensifies during urination. Why might this situation occur?
Penile pain may have the following possible causes:
1. Injury: If the penis sustains excessive pressure or trauma, it may lead to localized pain, often accompanied by redness or swelling. In such cases, adequate rest should be ensured and strenuous activities avoided to prevent worsening of symptoms.
2. Inflammatory infection: Inflammation of the penile corpora cavernosa or conditions such as balanitis may cause penile pain, possibly accompanied by symptoms such as itching and increased discharge. Treatment may involve the use of antimicrobial medications, along with maintaining local cleanliness and dryness to promote resolution of the inflammation.
3. Sexually transmitted diseases: Conditions such as genital warts, gonorrhea, or non-gonococcal urethritis may cause penile pain, often accompanied by abnormal urethral discharge and other symptoms.
4. Poor blood circulation: Erectile dysfunction, prolonged erection, or difficulty achieving a firm erection may result in impaired blood flow within the penis, leading to pain.
If discomfort occurs, prompt medical attention is recommended.
