Can fatty liver cause high triglycerides?
Disease description:
My recent physical examination showed that I have fatty liver, and I'm very concerned it might lead to high triglycerides. Can fatty liver cause elevated triglycerides?
Fatty liver does not necessarily lead to high triglyceride levels. Whether it causes elevated triglycerides depends on the type of fatty liver. Fatty liver is classified into alcoholic fatty liver and non-alcoholic fatty liver. Non-alcoholic fatty liver may increase triglyceride levels, but it does not always do so. When suffering from fatty liver, it's important to develop healthy eating habits and avoid spicy, stimulating, and greasy foods.
