Is fluid accumulation in the right lower abdomen a sign of appendicitis?
Disease description:
Recently, I've been feeling constant pain on the right side of my abdomen and suspect I might have appendicitis. After going to the hospital for an ultrasound, it showed fluid accumulation in the lower right abdomen. Is fluid accumulation in the lower right abdomen a sign of appendicitis?
Fluid accumulation in the right lower abdomen may be caused by appendicitis or pelvic inflammatory disease leading to pelvic effusion. If due to appendicitis, pus formation may already have occurred in the right lower abdomen, indicating a relatively severe condition. Without timely treatment, serious complications such as peritonitis or perforation may develop. Anti-infective medications are required for treatment, and applying warm compresses to the abdomen may appropriately help alleviate symptoms.
