Clinical manifestations of acute fatty liver of pregnancy
Disease description:
Recently, one of my colleagues was diagnosed with acute fatty liver of pregnancy. I would like to know the clinical manifestations of acute fatty liver of pregnancy.
Acute fatty liver of pregnancy typically presents with symptoms such as upper abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. As the condition progresses, symptoms including jaundice, hepatic encephalopathy, and liver failure may develop. In severe cases, complications such as preterm labor and intrauterine fetal death can occur. Acute fatty liver of pregnancy usually occurs in the late stages of pregnancy; therefore, pregnancy must be terminated early once this condition is diagnosed.
