I had vocal cord polyp surgery last month, and my recovery has been going well so far. However, I'd like to ask: should I have a follow-up examination more than a year after the surgery?

A follow-up examination is required. Generally, follow-up visits are needed 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months after surgery. During these visits, the recovery of voice function should be monitored. After vocal cord surgery, patients must avoid speaking loudly and consuming spicy or irritating foods, as these may lead to recurrence. To promote a faster recovery, anti-inflammatory medication must be used as an adjunctive treatment after surgery.
