How long after surgery for gastric perforation can normal eating resume?
Disease description:
Just had surgery for a gastric perforation and would like to eat something. I haven't eaten since before the surgery. How long after surgery for gastric perforation can I resume normal eating?
Normal diet can be resumed two days after gastric perforation surgery. If there is no improvement by the third day, gently massaging the abdomen may help; once gas is passed, the patient can begin consuming liquid food. Generally, the tube is removed about half a month after surgery, and during this period, strenuous exercise should be avoided to prevent discomfort. Patients are advised to eat more fresh vegetables and fruits after surgery and to avoid intense physical activity or overexertion.
