What to do about abdominal pain after childbirth
Disease description:
I'm having severe stomach pain—could it be related to just having given birth? What should I do about postpartum abdominal pain?
Postpartum abdominal pain can be relieved with medication. If severe pain occurs, some oral analgesics such as tramadol may be taken. This kind of pain is commonly due to uterine contractions. In women who have carried multiple fetuses, post-delivery uterine contraction pain is more likely to occur, but it usually resolves within 2–3 days. Abdominal pain and bloating after childbirth may also result from impaired breathing regulation during labor, leading to excessive accumulation of gas in the abdomen. In such cases, symptoms can be alleviated through methods like warm compresses or massage.
