Can Xuesaitong be used for arteriosclerosis?

Xuesaitong is generally not indicated for atherosclerosis. Xuesaitong is a traditional Chinese patent medicine whose main functions are promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, and unblocking meridians. It can inhibit platelet aggregation and increase cerebral and coronary blood flow. It is primarily used for conditions such as hemiplegia due to stroke, obstruction of heart vessels, and chest pain caused by blood stasis. Therefore, it has no therapeutic effect on atherosclerosis and is not considered an appropriate indication for this condition. For patients with atherosclerosis, active control of blood pressure, blood glucose, and lipid levels is necessary to help slow the progression of the disease.
