Is ALT elevated in fatty liver disease?
Disease description:
This morning I went to the hospital for a checkup and found that my liver transaminase levels were somewhat elevated. Can fatty liver cause high transaminase levels?
Fatty liver usually causes elevated transaminase levels due to impaired liver function resulting from the condition. Fatty liver is a relatively common disease, generally caused by an improper diet—particularly prolonged consumption of high-fat and greasy foods. It often damages liver cells, leading to reduced liver function and increased bilirubin levels. Timely intervention and management are essential once it is detected; otherwise, without prompt treatment, it may progress to severe fatty liver disease.
