Is cerebral tinnitus caused by high blood lipid levels?
Disease description:
My father says he has recently been experiencing constant brain ringing, a buzzing sound in his head that persists even during sleep. He also has hyperlipidemia. Could the brain ringing be caused by hyperlipidemia?
Tinnitus may be caused by high blood lipid levels, but it could also result from other factors. If a patient has significantly elevated blood lipid levels that are not promptly and effectively treated, it can easily lead to cerebral atherosclerosis, causing ischemia and hypoxia in brain tissue, thereby resulting in tinnitus. However, tinnitus may also be caused by other conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, or Ménière's syndrome.
