High bilirubin levels in newborns typically present with yellowing of the sclera, skin discoloration, dark yellow urine, and yellow stools. In severe cases, it may also lead to irritability and anemia. If a newborn has jaundice without other symptoms, it is usually physiological and will resolve spontaneously over time. However, if symptoms such as irritability and anemia occur, the jaundice may be pathological, and phototherapy can be administered to reduce bilirubin levels.
