What should I do if my feet swell after chemotherapy?
Disease description:
Today after my wife finished chemotherapy, I was putting shoes on her and noticed her feet were swollen—her shoes no longer fit. I'd like to ask, what should we do about foot swelling after chemotherapy?
After chemotherapy, if foot swelling occurs, the lower limbs should first be elevated to enhance lymphatic return, and the specific cause should be identified. If the swelling is caused by chemotherapy drugs, appropriate diuretic treatment can be administered to alleviate symptoms. Additionally, if pain accompanies the foot swelling, it may indicate deep vein thrombosis in the lower limbs. In such cases, a color Doppler ultrasound of the blood vessels can be performed for confirmation. Once diagnosed, appropriate treatments can be initiated accordingly.
