Disease description:

Today, after my grandfather was discharged following chemotherapy, the doctor mentioned his white blood cell count was slightly elevated during the checkup. What should we do?

Doctor's answer (1)
Dr. Peng Xiaodong
If elevated white blood cell count after chemotherapy is caused by long-term use of chemotherapeutic drugs, it can be managed by increasing fluid intake and urination to promote drug elimination. Appropriate physical exercise, such as tai chi or skipping rope, may also help enhance the body's immunity and thereby increase white blood cell levels. If the elevation is due to bacterial infection, anti-infective medications such as cefixime or cefuroxime can be used under a doctor's guidance.
