Are fibromas and lipomas the same thing?
Disease description:
A friend of mine has symptoms similar to my aunt's, but one has a fibroma and the other has a lipoma. Are these two conditions the same?
Fibromas and lipomas are usually different and have distinct characteristics. Fibromas are primarily located on the skin surface, with clear boundaries, and are typically formed due to the accumulation of fibrous tissue. In contrast, lipomas are generally situated in the subcutaneous layer, are not tightly adherent to the skin, and have well-defined borders and a soft texture. Lipomas are more commonly seen in obese patients and are usually caused by the aggregation of fatty masses.
