Is Kawasaki disease transmitted through any means?
Disease description:
My neighbor's child was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease. I've heard this illness can be quite serious, and I'm feeling quite worried. Is Kawasaki disease contagious? How is it transmitted?
Kawasaki disease is generally not transmitted through any particular route, as it is an immune system disorder and not classified as an infectious disease; therefore, it does not spread from person to person. Kawasaki disease, also known as mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome in children, is an acute, self-limited vasculitis that typically presents with symptoms such as fever, red eyes, and rash, which may outwardly resemble an infectious illness.
