I have lung cancer and am going to the hospital tomorrow for radiation therapy. My doctor mentioned that radiation therapy may cause some side effects. What are the side effects of radiation therapy for lung cancer?
Side effects of chemotherapy may include radiation esophagitis, which presents as swallowing pain, difficulty eating, and a burning sensation. It may also cause radiation pneumonia, manifesting as dry cough, shortness of breath, fever, and difficulty breathing. Additionally, abnormal skin reactions may occur at the irradiated site, presenting as redness, swelling, ulceration, and pigmentation.
