How to care for acute pleurisy

Patients with acute pleurisy should be closely monitored for changes in their physical condition. If fever occurs, prompt antipyretic treatment is necessary. Bed rest should be increased and physical activity reduced to help alleviate pain symptoms. In cases where fluid accumulates in the pleural cavity, a semi-recumbent position is recommended. Additionally, airway patency must be maintained and sputum promptly cleared to prevent bacterial growth and subsequent respiratory tract infections.
