Disease description:

I've had poor appetite recently and always feel thirsty. I think it's due to excessive dampness, but after a hospital checkup, I was told it's caused by excessive liver fire. I'd like to know whether excessive liver fire is related to excessive dampness.

Liver fire excess and dampness accumulation are not related. Dampness accumulation results from abnormal spleen function. The spleen's main role is to transport and transform fluids; spleen deficiency or impaired spleen function leads to dampness, commonly manifesting as poor appetite, abdominal distension, fatigue, sticky bowel movements, and general discomfort. Liver fire excess mainly presents with dizziness, headaches, irritability, thirst, red and painful eyes. Therefore, liver fire excess and dampness accumulation are unrelated.
