Disease description:

The teacher said the child has been coughing up green phlegm intermittently for the past couple of days, but without fever. They suspect pneumonia. Can a child have pneumonia if they are coughing up green phlegm but don't have a fever?

A child's cough with green phlegm but no fever is not necessarily pneumonia. Pediatric pneumonia may occur without fever and sometimes with subnormal body temperature, which is related to the child's immune function and the development of the thermoregulatory center. In cases of mild infection, oral administration of amoxicillin-clavulanate potassium granules can be considered, as well as cefaclor granules, fresh bamboo extract oral solution, or pediatric mahu gan granules. Patients with more severe conditions require intravenous infusion.
