Dr. Wang Lei
Symptoms of vitamin deficiency in children often lead to keratosis of the body's epithelial tissues. Children's skin tends to be dry, particularly increasing susceptibility to respiratory and urinary tract infections. The eyes are most commonly affected, with xerophthalmia being the most frequent manifestation—such as night blindness and dry eye disease—which in severe cases can progress to corneal softening or even perforation. Other symptoms include angular cheilitis and tongue inflammation. Children may also frequently experience tearing, itchy eyes, and photophobia, all of which could contribute to seborrheic dermatitis.
