After grandpa's follow-up examination following chemotherapy, the doctor said his potassium level was low. I would like to know what are the risks associated with low potassium?

Doctor's answer (1)
Dr. Yang Ziqi
Chemotherapy drugs have toxic side effects that may lead to decreased potassium ion levels in patients, causing adverse effects such as memory decline, weakness in the limbs, and difficulty breathing. In severe cases, they may trigger arrhythmias, including ventricular tachycardia, or impair the heart's blood-pumping function. Additionally, hypokalemia may occur, resulting in symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, and loss of appetite.
