What to do about mouth ulcers after chemotherapy
Disease description:
I just finished chemotherapy and then developed mouth ulcers. What could be the cause, and how should I manage mouth ulcers after chemotherapy?
1. Maintain a positive mindset: Patients should recognize that this is one of the normal reactions to chemotherapy and should not worry excessively. Keeping an optimistic attitude can help alleviate symptoms.
2. Adjust dietary habits: Diet should primarily consist of light, soft, easily digestible semi-liquid or liquid foods such as noodle soup and rice porridge. Spicy, greasy, and other irritating foods should be avoided to reduce stimulation of the oral mucosa.
3. Maintain good oral hygiene: Rinse the mouth promptly after meals, using saline solution or warm water to remove bacteria and keep the mouth clean.
4. Medication treatment: Under a doctor's guidance, topical medications such as Kangfuxin solution or watermelon frost spray may be used; these have anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, and mucosal healing-promoting effects. Additionally, oral vitamin B and vitamin C supplements may be taken to enhance immunity and promote ulcer healing.
