Symptoms of Breast Milk Jaundice in Babies
Disease description:
My baby's skin has recently turned yellow, and I'm worried it might be breast milk jaundice. What are the symptoms of breast milk jaundice in babies?
Breast milk jaundice is mainly characterized by the onset of yellowing of the skin, sclera, and other areas in infants 3 to 5 days after birth. The condition typically peaks around two weeks and then gradually declines. In some infants, jaundice may persist for 1 to 3 months after birth. If breastfeeding continues, the jaundice may take 4 to 12 weeks to resolve. However, if breastfeeding is discontinued, the jaundice may noticeably subside within 72 hours.
