Is "minor three positive" hepatitis B contagious?
Disease description:
One of our coworkers was recently found to have chronic hepatitis B (small three positives) during a routine health checkup. However, we've all been in close contact with this person for a long time. We would like to know whether this condition is contagious.
Hepatitis B "small three positives" may or may not be contagious. If the patient's condition is relatively stable, liver function is nearly normal, and the hepatitis B virus in the body is not actively replicating, the infectivity is generally low and transmission usually does not occur. However, if a patient with hepatitis B "small three positives" has a positive result on hepatitis B virus nucleic acid testing, this indicates that the virus is active in the body. In such cases, contact with bodily fluids from these individuals may lead to transmission.
