What are the complications after breast reduction surgery?
Disease description:
I have large breasts and underwent breast reduction surgery at a cosmetic surgery clinic. What are the potential complications or side effects after breast reduction surgery?
Complications following breast reduction surgery may include necrosis of the nipple and areola, wound dehiscence, postoperative pain, infection, and others. Breast reduction is generally performed using minimally invasive techniques, applying negative pressure to liquefy excess fat and remove it from the body, thereby achieving breast size reduction. The procedure causes some tissue trauma, leading to localized swelling and pain after surgery. During recovery, there is a risk of infection, which may potentially result in necrosis of the nipple-areolar complex. As such, this surgery may lead to certain postoperative complications.
