Does liposuction on the lower legs affect the endocrine system?
Disease description:
I have a lot of excess fat in my lower leg area. Recently, a doctor at the hospital recommended liposuction, but I'm very concerned about its potential impact on my endocrine system. Can liposuction on the lower legs affect the endocrine system?
Liposuction of the lower leg does not necessarily affect the endocrine system. Whether the endocrine system is affected depends on the amount of fat removed. Lower leg liposuction is primarily performed for shaping purposes. If only a minimal amount of fat is removed, it generally does not affect estrogen levels or estrogen secretion, and therefore typically has no impact on the endocrine system. However, excessive liposuction of the lower leg may cause slight disturbances to the endocrine system.
