What causes herpetic stomatitis?
Disease description:
I've been feeling weak all over and had a slight headache for the past couple of days. After examination, I was diagnosed with herpetic gingivostomatitis. What causes herpetic gingivostomatitis?
Herpetic stomatitis may be caused by infection of the facial skin or areas around the mouth with the herpes simplex virus. Additionally, individuals with relatively low immunity usually fail to develop protective antibodies against the herpes simplex virus. If there are factors such as digestive dysfunction, decreased immune function, upper respiratory tract infections, or local irritation that reduce the body's resistance, the latent virus in the body may become activated, leading to herpetic stomatitis.
