Chronic bronchitis usually refers to long-term inflammation of the bronchi. Chronic bronchitis and emphysema generally do not turn into lung cancer, as these two conditions are mostly caused by excessive smoking, highly polluted environments, or low resistance and immunity. They are different types of diseases compared to lung cancer and therefore do not lead to malignant proliferation of lung cells that results in lung cancer.
