Is left-sided chest pain pleurisy?
Disease description:
I've been having left-sided chest pain for several days. My husband says it might be pleuritis. Could you please advise if this could be pleuritis?
Left-sided chest pain is not necessarily pleuritis. Chest pain may also be caused by conditions such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, or pneumothorax. Patients should undergo further diagnostic tests, including chest X-ray, complete blood count, and thoracic ultrasound. Additionally, the chest pain associated with pleuritis typically presents as pleuritic pain, which worsens during deep breathing or coughing.
