Differences between ankylosing spondylitis and bone tuberculosis
Disease description:
Ankylosing arthritis makes my body quite stiff, but I don't know what bone tuberculosis is. What are the differences between ankylosing arthritis and bone tuberculosis?
Spinal tuberculosis is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis invading the bones, while ankylosing spondylitis is a congenital genetic disorder. Moreover, spinal tuberculosis can be completely cured, whereas ankylosing spondylitis can only be managed with medications to control and alleviate symptoms. Ankylosing spondylitis is generally triggered by decreased immune function. Patients often experience pain in the lower back muscles, which may be relieved by mild physical activity. Spinal tuberculosis typically presents with other clinical symptoms such as low-grade fever, night sweats, fatigue, and loss of appetite.
