Disease description:

Recently, during a medical checkup at the hospital, I was diagnosed with bone hyperostosis. The condition has caused me lower back pain. Why shouldn't someone with lumbar disc osteophytosis sit for prolonged periods?

Dr. Xu Ge
Prolonged sitting increases pressure on the lumbar spine in cases of lumbar disc and bone spurs, leading to muscle fatigue, accumulation of inflammatory substances, and pain. This weakens the protective effect on the bones and may stimulate or increase the likelihood of further bone spur formation. Additionally, when a lumbar disc is herniated, prolonged sitting can worsen the protrusion and may even compress nerves or the spinal cord within the spinal canal, resulting in pain, numbness, and weakness in the lower body.
