How to care for pericarditis
Disease description:
It has been some time since being diagnosed with pericarditis, and recently episodes of shortness of breath have become increasingly frequent. How should pericarditis be managed and cared for?
Pericarditis requires taking analgesics and sedatives as directed by a physician. Fever should be promptly managed with cooling measures. Oxygen inhalation is necessary, and body temperature, pulse, and other vital signs should be closely monitored, recorded, and reported to the physician. When pericardial effusion causes signs of cardiac tamponade, pericardiocentesis must be performed; proper preoperative preparation and postoperative care are essential. For patients undergoing pericardiectomy due to constrictive pericarditis, close monitoring of the condition is required, along with careful control of intravenous infusion rate and volume to prevent pulmonary edema and heart failure.
