Dr. Wang Mingxuan
Spinal shock is an idiopathic condition. Following a severe spinal cord injury, there is an immediate and complete loss of spinal cord function below the level of injury, with temporary absence of reflex activity and a state of unresponsiveness. It manifests as loss of sensation below the level of injury. Patients typically present with loss of muscle tone, peripheral vasodilation, hypotension, decreased cardiac output, bradycardia, hypothermia, and respiratory dysfunction.
