How to diagnose nasopharyngeal cancer
Disease description:
I currently have bloody nasal discharge, and recently I've also noticed blood in my sputum, along with sudden headaches. How can nasopharyngeal cancer be diagnosed?
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma can generally be diagnosed through pathological examination, which confirms the presence of a tumor. If diagnosis remains uncertain, various imaging studies such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) scans may be performed. Additionally, nasal endoscopy is required. For tumors in the pharynx, nasoendoscopy is also an essential procedure for evaluating nasopharyngeal neoplasms; it allows for biopsy of tumor tissue under endoscopic guidance to establish a definitive diagnosis.
