Vocal cord nodules and polyps refer to a condition characterized by the presence of translucent white or pink polyps on one-third or both sides of the vocal cords. Most polyps occur singly or in multiples, with either a stalk-like (pedunculated) or broad-based attachment. Polyps that are mobile may move up and down during breathing, while those located near the vocal folds can obstruct the glottis and cause breathing difficulties, affecting voice production.
