This month, I’ve been taking vitamin C supplements, reportedly for skin whitening. However, after taking them for a while, I haven’t noticed any changes. I’d like to ask: Can taking vitamin C really whiten the skin?

Hello, extensive clinical studies have shown that taking an appropriate amount of vitamin C can exert a certain skin-lightening effect. Skin color is determined by melanin content in the skin. In melanocytes, tyrosine is converted into dopaquinone under the action of tyrosinase; dopaquinone is then oxidized to form melanin. Taking an appropriate dose of vitamin C effectively inhibits tyrosinase activity, thereby suppressing melanin production and protecting the skin from ultraviolet (UV) damage. This helps improve dullness and, to a certain extent, achieves a skin-lightening effect. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you good health!
