Females may stop growing in height when there has been no significant increase in height over the past few years, along with the development of secondary sexual characteristics, such as maturation of the uterus and ovaries leading to menarche, as well as breast development. Additionally, if a hospital examination of the growth plates (epiphyseal lines) is performed, it may clearly show that the growth plates have closed. This condition typically indicates that height growth has ceased.
