If a woman has a regular menstrual cycle, the pregnancy duration should be calculated from the first day of her last menstrual period. To estimate the delivery month, subtract 3 or add 9 to the pregnancy month; add 7 to the date to determine the due date. If a woman has an unusually long or short menstrual cycle, or irregular cycles, the gestational age must be determined by considering ovulation time, date of intercourse, and ultrasound measurements together.
