Disease description:

I’m not sure what’s causing my frequent nausea and vomiting. I haven’t eaten anything spoiled or contaminated. A few days ago, I fell ill and took some medication. I visited a nearby hospital for evaluation, and they diagnosed me with drug-induced toxicity. I’m curious—what are the typical symptoms of drug toxicity?

Hello, medications exert therapeutic effects at prescribed doses, but overdose can lead to toxic symptoms. Different drugs produce distinct patterns of toxicity. Clinically, benzodiazepine (hypnotic) overdose is commonly encountered, presenting primarily with drowsiness, confusion, and even coma; pinpoint (miosis) pupils; hypotension and shock; and tachycardia. Another frequently observed clinical toxicity is digitalis (e.g., digoxin) poisoning, which typically begins with gastrointestinal symptoms—including nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite—followed by neurological manifestations such as dizziness, headache, and somnolence. Cardiac toxicity is often prominent. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you a happy and healthy life!
