The difference between epinephrine and epinephrine hydrochloride
Disease description:
Today I accidentally learned about epinephrine and epinephrine hydrochloride, but I'm not quite sure what the differences are. I'd like to ask—what is the difference between epinephrine and epinephrine hydrochloride?
Epinephrine and epinephrine hydrochloride are the same medication—a sympathomimetic amine that directly acts on alpha and beta adrenergic receptors. There is no difference between the two; they are simply referred to by different names. Epinephrine increases myocardial excitability, elevates blood pressure, relaxes bronchial smooth muscle, and enhances metabolism. It can also be used in combination with atropine to treat cardiac arrest, increasing myocardial contractility and heart rate.
