What causes a throbbing pain in the back of the head?
Disease description:
This morning when I woke up, I had a throbbing headache at the back of my head, but I'm not sure what caused it. I'd like to ask, what could be the reasons for a pulsating pain in the back of the head?
Pulsating pain in the back of the head is generally caused by cervical spondylosis. Prolonged maintenance of a single neck posture or exposure of the neck to cold can lead to muscle tension, restricted neck movement, and pain in the occipital region. Secondly, it may also be due to neuralgic headache. Patients experience pain in the occipital area, along with paroxysmal pain in the temporal or frontal regions distributed along the occipital nerves, manifesting as pulling or electric-shock-like sensations.
